The Salzburg Regional Administrative Court confirmed on June 25 the penalty against the managing director of a hotel in St. Johann im Pongau, who had prohibited two guests from swimming in the hotel's pool wearing burkinis.

Background of the Incident

The ruling follows an incident in which the managing director refused two hotel guests the use of the hotel's swimming pool on the grounds that wearing burkinis was not permitted, as reported in the archive of the Salzburger Nachrichten. The women had been denied use of the pool even though they were wearing fully covering swimwear.
