Regarding the distribution of the planned cuts, Merz explained: "One third the insured, one third the service providers, and one third everyone else. As the newspaper further reported, Dronsch reached the relevant office at the Chancellery by phone. An employee had wished her "confidence" and "strength" in an accompanying letter, the "Allgemeine Zeitung" reported. Subsequently, a letter was sent that contained an autograph card from the chancellor with a personal dedication in which he wished her "all the best."

A government spokesperson essentially confirmed the incident. "At Ms. Dronsch's request, an autograph card from the Federal Chancellor was also enclosed," she stated. It is general practice not to comment on the contents of such letters.

During the course of the conversation in Salzwedel, Dronsch had also expressed the wish to receive a personal signature from Merz. That the letter with the autograph card apparently responded to this wish was indirectly confirmed by the spokesperson.

Dronsch's criticism of a possible elimination of free skin cancer screening examinations was not commented on further thereafter. The question of whether Merz apologized for his tone during the dialogue also remained open, according to the "Allgemeine Zeitung."
