St.Gallen, 09 August 2026
FC St.Gallen earned a 1:1 away point at FC Sion on Sunday in the Swiss Super League, after Lukas Daschner had given St.Gallen the lead in the first half and Sion equalized only late on.
Already in stoppage time of the first half, in the 45th minute, Lukas Daschner put the visitors from St.Gallen in front. He took advantage of an error by Sion goalkeeper Simon Simoni and struck to give St.Gallen a 1:0 lead at the break. Daschner profited from a slip by the Sion keeper, who was unable to decisively clear the ball.
After the turnaround, St.Gallen failed to extend their lead and were punished for it in the closing minutes. Sion pushed for the equalizer and created chances, but kept the Eastern Swiss side on edge for a long time. In regulation time, St.Gallen goalkeeper captain Görtler rescued the narrow advantage with several saves.
