A study by the Hans-Böckler Foundation shows that a clear majority of employees in Germany view the planned social reforms with concern.

The planned reforms at a glance

According to the study, the planned measures include raising the retirement age, cuts in benefits under statutory health insurance, cuts in benefits under long-term care insurance, and the abolition of continued pay during illness from the first day. These four points are identified in the study as central reform projects.

The Hans-Böckler Foundation presented the study together with the Institute of Macroeconomics and Economic Research (IMK). Employees in Germany were surveyed about their expectations and concerns regarding the planned reform agenda of the federal government. The authors interpret the results as a clear warning signal.
