The 45-year-old suspected perpetrator of the shooting at a youth welfare facility in Stade, which left six people dead, was found dead in his cell at Bremervörde Prison on Tuesday morning.

As the Lower Saxony Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday in Hanover, the 45-year-old was discovered lifeless in the morning. According to the information, a staff member at the prison found the man during a routine check of his single-occupancy cell on Tuesday at around 6:05 a.m. An emergency physician then confirmed the man's death at 6:29 a.m.

According to the information, there were no indications of third-party involvement. Based on the current state of affairs, investigators are assuming a suicide in prison. The exact circumstances would continue to be investigated, the ministry announced.

Crime in Stade and alleged motive

The 45-year-old is alleged to have shot and killed six employees of the facility and the youth welfare office at a youth welfare facility in Stade during a so-called care planning meeting three weeks ago.
