The Regional Court of St. Pölten has sentenced an intoxicated driver to a partially suspended prison sentence following a fatal traffic accident in the St. Pölten district.
The verdict was announced at the Regional Court of St. Pölten. According to the indictment, the defendant was driving while intoxicated at the time of the accident and collided with an oncoming car in the opposite lane. One person lost their life in the collision.
Course of the Accident and Alcohol Level
Just under one hour after the accident, a blood alcohol level of 0.5 per mille was measured in the defendant. Although this level was below Austria's applicable criminal threshold of 0.8 per mille, it was nonetheless considered an aggravating factor in the proceedings.
