Switzerland will temporarily reintroduce border controls with France from June 10 to 19, 2026, as security measures tighten ahead of the G7 summit in Evian.

The Swiss government has announced enhanced security protocols, including temporary border checks, in anticipation of the G7 summit taking place in Evian, France, from June 15 to 17, 2026. The measures aim to mitigate potential disruptions from protests and ensure the safety of attendees and residents.

Security Measures and Military Deployment

Up to 5,000 army personnel may be deployed to support civil authorities in maintaining order during the summit. The Swiss federal government will cover security costs for the affected cantons of Geneva, Vaud, and Valais.
