Taylor Swift was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday in New York, becoming at age 36 the youngest woman ever to receive the honor.
The ceremony took place in New York, where Swift appeared in person, walking the red carpet in a strapless black dress. Her induction marks a milestone for the institution, which has recognized songwriters since its founding and admits artists once their first single is 20 years old.
Swift released her debut single "Tim McGraw" in June 2006, meaning she became eligible for consideration this year. The Songwriters Hall of Fame cited among its reasons for the induction her ability "sich als Songwriterin zu wandeln und in unterschiedliche Klangwelten einzutauchen," praising her willingness to reinvent her craft and explore different sonic landscapes across country, pop, folk, and indie rock.
