The Thuringian state branch of the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) is preparing a special party convention following internal disputes with the party's founder, at which the future direction of the state branch is to be deliberated.

As reported from circles within the state branch, leading members of the Thuringian BSW have called a special party convention for the coming weeks. The background is a conflict between party founder Sahra Wagenknecht and parts of the state leadership around chairwoman Katja Wolf. Among other things, the convention is to deliberate on how to deal with the recent directional decisions of the federal party.

According to those involved, the tensions were triggered by an interview Wolf gave to the broadcaster phoenix. In it, she clearly spoke out against any form of cooperation with the AfD, including models such as a minority or expert government that would make the AfD the kingmaker. Wolf justified this with the programmatic differences between the two parties.
