Two or three young people climbed onto the roof of an ÖBB Intercity train on the Koralm line in Carinthia on Saturday evening, causing an approximately three-hour closure of the Koralm Tunnel, which had only been opened to passenger traffic since December 2025.

Background of the incident

The first reports reached police on the Carinthian side of the Koralm Tunnel shortly before 8 pm. As a press spokesperson for the Carinthian State Police Directorate confirmed to 5 Minuten, it was believed to involve two youths who had boarded the train at Kühnsdorf station in Carinthia. Several people had observed the boys climbing onto the roof of the Intercity at Kühnsdorf station.
