Before the Vienna Regional Court, a trial against three defendants aged 20, 21 and 23 began on Wednesday for rape, grievous bodily harm, aggravated coercion and deprivation of liberty committed against two young men.
Background of the crime
As APA reported on Wednesday, the three men must answer before a lay judges' panel (Schöffensenat). The public prosecutor's office accuses them of rape, grievous bodily harm, aggravated coercion, deprivation of liberty as well as further offences. The trial is taking place at the Vienna Regional Court.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the starting point of the crime was reportedly an outstanding debt of around 100 euros. The two young men are said to have been lured into an apartment in Vienna-Favoriten and severely abused there over several hours. The indictment describes the acts as severe torture.
