Trump Media reportedly considering $100,000 monthly subscription for accelerated Trump posts

Licensing data would be a new business area for Trump Media. To date, the company primarily generates revenue from advertising on its social media platform Truth Social. With a high-speed data feed for professional market participants, the group could tap into a second, recurring revenue source. A TMTG statement on the report was not initially available.

Ownership structure and stock

Trump's investments are managed through the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust. According to SEC filings, that trust holds approximately 41 percent of TMTG shares, making it by far the largest shareholder in the company. Since the beginning of the year, the stock has lost roughly 27 percent of its value.

The company is in fierce competition with other social media platforms. With the "Truth API," TMTG is seeking to differentiate itself from rivals by giving professional customers a technical advantage in receiving certain posts. Even before the FT report was published, major Wall Street indexes had rallied notably on April 9, 2025, after Trump announced in a Truth Social post a 90-day suspension of many of his new tariffs.

Why speed is worth money

The consideration is rooted in the market significance of Trump's posts. "Trump's announcements on Truth Social have significantly influenced global markets in the past, making his posts an important source of information for traders," according to the Reuters report. Even a small time advantage can generate large profits on individual transactions, the authors write.

Political reactions

Criticism came immediately after the product's unveiling from the U.S. Congress. Ron Wyden, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, accused the company of saying the offering would financially enrich the Trump family and "make Wall Street traders rich." The White House referred questions about Wyden's comments to TMTG.

On the stock market, investors reacted cautiously. After the "FT" report, TMTG shares largely recouped their daily losses and were last trading 0.4 percent in the red. The company could not initially be reached for comment.

With the "Truth API," TMTG is also taking its first step into the data licensing market. Industry observers see it as an attempt to position the platform not only as an opinion and marketing environment but also as a professional data source.
