A twelve-year-old Syrian national stabbed a 15-year-old with a pocket knife during a dispute among youths at Wielandplatz in Vienna-Favoriten on Thursday evening, inflicting life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to Wielandplatz around 7:20 p.m. after a brawl had broken out between several youths. At the scene, officers from the Favoriten City Police Command and the Vienna Rapid Response Unit found three youths with stab and cut wounds, as the Vienna State Police Directorate reported on Friday.

The 15-year-old was taken to a hospital by emergency medical helicopter with stab wounds to the chest area. According to police, after initial emergency medical treatment by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, he was transported to a hospital by rescue helicopter. "Der Bursche befand sich zeitweise in Lebensgefahr, ist mittlerweile jedoch in stabilem Zustand," the Vienna State Police Directorate reported on Friday.
