The women's team of 1. FC Union Berlin played a friendly against top Italian opposition and did so in front of around 5,000 spectators at the Alte Försterei.
1. FC Union Berlin hosted Inter Milan, one of the most renowned clubs in European women's football, in a friendly on Saturday. The match at the Alte Försterei in Berlin-Köpenick was designed as a benchmark against high-caliber international opposition and served both teams as a stiff test in the middle of preseason preparation.
According to the club, around 5,000 spectators followed the encounter on site. The unusually large crowd for a women's friendly was itself a sign of the growing resonance the Union women are currently attracting. Inter Milan, which according to information from the club's reporting counts among Italy's top teams, also brought its full squad to Berlin.
