US Awaits Iran's Response to Proposal Aimed at Ending Conflict as Tensions Persist

Despite a ceasefire that has held for over a month, military tensions remain high. Recent clashes saw Iran attack US military ships with rockets and speedboats, prompting US retaliation against targets on the Iranian mainland. The Iranian military later announced, *"Nach einer gewissen Zeit gegenseitigen Beschusses sind die Kämpfe derzeit eingestellt und die Lage ruhig"* ("After a period of mutual shelling, the fighting has currently stopped, and the situation is calm").

Regional Mediation and Blockade

Pakistan is officially mediating the conflict, while Qatar is working behind the scenes to encourage peace efforts. Both countries have called for dialogue, with Qatar urging all parties to engage in mediation for lasting stability.

Meanwhile, the US has enforced a naval blockade, preventing over 70 tankers from entering or leaving Iranian ports. These vessels have the capacity to transport Iranian oil worth more than $13 billion. More than 50 ships have been diverted to maintain the blockade, and the US military has disabled Iranian oil tankers attempting to breach it.

Talks between the US and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, may resume in Islamabad next week, though previous attempts to hold discussions there have repeatedly failed. The negotiation period could be extended if progress is made.
