A man in the USA has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term in Omaha for robbing a bank, live-streaming the crime, and using ChatGPT to plan the heist, according to authorities.
According to officials, the man gained access to a bank branch in the USA and carried out an armed robbery. During the act, he apparently filmed himself and broadcast the footage via a live television stream. The circumstances made the perpetrator clearly identifiable afterward, leading media reports to describe him as the "unmasked bank robber."
At the center of the proceedings was the question of the extent to which the perpetrator had used digital applications to prepare the crime. According to investigators, he consulted ChatGPT, a text-based AI service, before and possibly during the robbery. Prosecutors relied in part on chat logs and search queries intended to shed light on the preparation.
