Vienna, 01 July 2026
A 15-year-old with Bosnian roots and her mother were acquitted on Wednesday at the Vienna Regional Court of the charge of defamation; the verdict is not final.
At the center of the proceedings was the question of whether the two defendants had knowingly accused a classmate of the same age of raping and impregnating the girl. According to the indictment, sexual contact between the two young people allegedly occurred at the end of 2025. A pregnancy test, however, came back negative.
The charge and the evidence
The public prosecutor's office made no statement on Wednesday. The court, convinced by the presiding judge, was unable to establish an intentional false accusation and acquitted both the 15-year-old and her 40-year-old mother of the defamation charge. The verdicts are not yet final.
