The Danish cycling professional Jonas Vingegaard dropped out on Stage 15 of the Tour de France after a crash in a roundabout just before the final climb to the Plateau de Solaison.

Before the crash, Vingegaard was in second place in the general classification and was considered one of the top favorites for the overall victory. According to the news agency APA, the crash happened "in a roundabout" after his Visma teammate Victor Campenaerts "rode too fast into the curve." The Dane fell as a result and was unable to continue the stage.

Sequence of the Crash

"On suspicion of a broken collarbone, the Dane was treated immediately in the ambulance and was unable to continue the stage," the APA report stated. According to the report, Vingegaard had controlled the pace in the peloton "and apparently had a plan to make up time in the classification." Due to the crash just before the final climb at the Plateau de Solaison, however, the stage was over for him.
