Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain disrupted FIFA President Gianni Infantino's travel plans on Saturday during the soccer World Cup, causing him to miss the third-place match between England and France in Miami.
In an Instagram video on Saturday evening (local time), Infantino explained that he should have actually been in Miami. „Ich sollte jetzt gerade eigentlich in Miami sein für das Spiel um Platz drei zwischen England und Frankreich", the 56-year-old said. Due to the severe weather, a flight had not been possible. „Leider haben es uns die Wetterbedingungen hier nicht erlaubt, nach Miami zu fliegen", Infantino added.
Instead of heading to Miami, Infantino traveled to the final stadium in East Rutherford near New York. The teams are preparing there for the final. Spain will face Argentina at the stadium on Sunday evening. The match is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. CEST and will be broadcast in Germany by ZDF and MagentaTV.
