Wladimir Klitschko Files to Protect Inheritance of His Daughter with Hayden Panettiere

Panettiere died suddenly in August at the age of only 36 in an apartment in the US state of South Carolina. The circumstances of death have not yet been conclusively clarified publicly; the responsible authorities in South Carolina had taken up the case once it became known.

Klitschko and Panettiere met in 2009 and got engaged in 2013. The relationship produced their shared daughter Kaya, who is a child today. Over the years, the couple had an eventful relationship with several separations and reunions.

The background to the current petition is the fact that the actress apparently did not leave behind a finalized will that directly secures the support of their shared daughter. Without a court-appointed estate administrator, US inheritance law threatens lengthy delays in payouts to the minor heir.

Klitschko's Profile and Possible Consequences

Klitschko, former heavyweight world champion, has returned to Ukraine, where he is engaged in sporting and humanitarian activities. Over the years, he built a significant business empire in Ukraine, which was partly severely damaged by the Russian war of aggression.

According to information from the family's circle, daughter Kaya lives with Panettiere's parents in the United States. Klitschko maintains contact with her through regular visits and phone calls, as earlier reports indicate.

Klitschko's attorneys argue in the petition that a swift court order would be in the child's best interests. A judge of the Superior Court in Los Angeles must now decide on the appointment of a personal representative for the estate.

Until such an appointment is made, the actress's ongoing contracts could be suspended, income from post-productions and licenses could be distributed unclearly, and personal belongings could remain without regulated supervision.

Under US inheritance law, a guardian or trustee must generally be appointed for minor heirs to manage the assets until they reach the age of majority. This is independent of the question of who is appointed as the personal representative of the estate.

According to the assessment of inheritance law experts, the proceedings in Los Angeles are likely to take several weeks. According to court sources, an initial hearing has not yet been scheduled.

Panettiere had become known to a broad audience through her role in the television series "Heroes". Later engagements included feature films and series productions that could generate ongoing income.
