Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko on Sunday and on Wednesday nominated the head of the state energy company Naftogaz, Serhij Korezkyj, as the new head of government, while Defense Minister Mykhajlo Fedorov announced his departure after roughly six months in office.

The Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, had accepted Svyrydenko's resignation on Tuesday, after which, under Ukrainian law, the entire government is automatically considered dismissed. Parliamentary Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk confirmed receipt of Korezkyj's nomination and stated: "The parliament will review him shortly in accordance with the established procedure."
