Hamburg, August 30, 2026

1. FC Kaiserslautern celebrated its first win of the 2. Bundesliga season on Sunday at FC St. Pauli, making a statement after a difficult start to the campaign.

The team managed by coach Marcel Rapp arrived at the Elbe as second-from-bottom and headed home with three points in tow. Following recent goalless league performances, the former top-flight side looked notably transformed in Hamburg and took its chances with conviction. For the Palatinate side, it was the first three-point haul of the still-young season.

The FCK also benefited from the individual quality of its new signings. Abdoulie Ceesay, brought in over the summer, was among the most dangerous performers and was rewarded with a goal for his efforts. Midfielder Marlon Ritter, who led the Palatinate side once again as a driving force after a long injury layoff, also made his mark in attack.
