Leipzig, 15 June 2026
1. FC Lok Leipzig has presented Torsten Ziegner as its new head coach, thereby settling the succession of Jochen Seitz.
The 48-year-old Ziegner was officially unveiled at a press conference and signed a contract running until 2028. According to the club, he succeeds Jochen Seitz, whose departure was made possible by a release clause in his contract. Seitz had previously spoken in a video message of "herausragend erfolgreiche Jahre" (outstandingly successful years).
Ziegner returns to the touchline after 1,003 days
Ziegner is thus returning to the touchline after a longer break. His last post as head coach ended on 16 September 2023 at MSV Duisburg, from which he had been released. In total, 1,003 days passed between his departure from Duisburg and his new role in Leipzig. In the meantime, he worked as a TV expert for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) and for SPORT IM OSTEN.
