Leipzig, 28 May 2026
1. FC Lok Leipzig suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Würzburger Kickers in the first leg of the promotion playoff for a place in the 3. Liga on Wednesday evening.
Early Pressure from the Visitors
The match, played in front of 10,787 spectators at the Bruno-Plache-Stadion, saw the visitors take a crucial advantage into the second leg. Würzburg, representing the Bayern region, entered the contest with momentum following a recent victory against 1860 Munich in the Bavarian state cup.
The first significant chance fell to the visitors in the 23rd minute. Würzburg's Jermain Nischalke ran free toward Lok goalkeeper Andreas Naumann, but his shot from 15 meters was turned around the right post with a sharp reflex save.
