Taufkirchen an der Pram, 14 June 2026
A 29-year-old educator on Friday at a school in Taufkirchen an der Pram (district of Schärding) killed his 28-year-old colleague with a double-edged dagger and a firearm in the school library and subsequently took his own life – it is the 14th femicide in Austria in the year 2026.
The crime took place on Friday afternoon in the school center of Taufkirchen an der Pram, which houses an elementary school and a secondary school. The body of the 28-year-old teacher was found in the school library, which is located "relatively centrally" in the building, according to the Ried im Innkreis Public Prosecutor's Office. The prosecutor's office told the Austria Presse Agentur (APA) that the two teaching colleagues had "nie eine Beziehung gehabt" – contrary to initial reports. The background is apparently unrequited love and the woman's new relationship with another partner.
