Femicide in Taufkirchen an der Pram: 28-year-old teacher found dead in school library

The case is part of a series of suspected femicides in Austria. According to the report, it is already the 14th documented case this year. A good week later, the body of a 28-year-old was found in her apartment in Kottingbrunn (district of Baden); her 29-year-old ex-boyfriend is alleged to have committed the crime. In the same period, a 64-year-old from eastern Styria is said to have shot his 59-year-old wife on a farmstead in Gersdorf an der Feistritz and lived next to her body for days.

According to the report, also referenced by OÖN, femicides are premeditated murders. The frequency of such crimes in Austria has led in recent years to calls for better prevention structures and a more consistent approach to combating domestic violence.
