An 18-year-old has been arrested after an attempted homicide in Mettmach in Upper Austria (district of Ried im Innkreis); police assume the perpetrator was heavily intoxicated.

What is known so far

In Mettmach in Upper Austria, in the district of Ried im Innkreis, an attempted homicide offense occurred, according to police. An 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to Ried correctional facility, as APA reported, citing the investigating authorities. The suspect holds Romanian citizenship.

According to the current findings of the police, the suspect was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime. The exact circumstances – in particular the sequence of events, possible background, and any prior relationship between perpetrator and victim – are currently being established by criminal investigators from the Upper Austria State Criminal Investigation Office.
