An 18-year-old driver evaded Vienna police at speeds reaching 250 km/h before losing control of his vehicle and causing an accident near Floridsdorf Bridge.

High-speed chase

The incident began when police spotted the young man driving a BMW at excessive speeds, exceeding 190 km/h in a 60 km/h zone near the A22 highway. Authorities immediately initiated a pursuit, but the driver continued accelerating, hitting peaks of 250 km/h on the streets of the Austrian capital.

According to police sources, the young man ran multiple red lights before losing control of the car. The BMW then struck a central median and narrowly missed an A22 highway ramp, causing significant property damage.

Accident and minor injuries

The crash occurred near Floridsdorf Bridge, where the driver was still traveling at approximately 160 km/h at the moment of impact. The severely damaged vehicle had to be secured by emergency crews. The driver and his 22-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.
