1. FC Nürnberg won the Franconian derby against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on the second matchday of the 2. Bundesliga and celebrated an emotional success in front of a home crowd of 16,126 spectators.
The Franconian derby between 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth electrified the fans of both camps even before kickoff. In the sold-out Max Morlock Stadium, an intense match developed from the start, with both teams battling for every meter. The hosts took control in the opening phase and created the first scoring chances.
In the first 15 minutes, the Nuremberg side registered the only shots of the match and came close to taking the lead. A powerful right-footed strike by Jannik Dehm from 17 meters narrowly flew over the Fürth goal in the 13th minute. The visitors from the neighboring Kleeblatt Stadium struggled to find their way into the game, and the Nuremberg defense, anchored by the center-backs, stood firm during this phase.
