A 64-year-old man in the district of Perg in Upper Austria aimed an air rifle at a group of youths who had previously appeared as doorbell pranksters at his house in the night leading into Saturday.
According to police, the incident occurred in a municipality in the district of Perg. A group of young people had repeatedly rung the man's front door during the night. When the 64-year-old stepped out of the house, he pointed an air rifle at the group, according to investigators.
The youths fled and notified the police, according to the report. No one was injured at this stage. The air rifle was seized, and the 64-year-old is under investigation on suspicion of dangerous threats.
Police took the man into temporary custody that same night. Once the investigation is complete, he will be formally charged while at liberty, according to sources close to the investigation. He made no detailed statements to police regarding his motive.
