A 64-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting his wife on their secluded farm in the Styrian district of Weiz on Wednesday afternoon.

According to multiple corroborated sources, the incident occurred on a farm located in a forested area near Gersdorf, approximately 1.5 kilometers south of the district of Gschmaier.

After the alleged shooting, the man reportedly called a relative and described the event to them. This relative then alerted the authorities.

Police responded to the scene and were able to persuade the man to surrender with the assistance of the Cobra South deployment command's negotiation group. The man was taken into custody without further incident.

The weapon involved in the incident has been secured by authorities, though details about the type of rifle or its legal ownership status remain unclear at this time.
