A 76-year-old pensioner was run over by a tree trunk and seriously injured on Friday morning during forestry work in Schrems near Fladnitz an der Teichalm in the district of Weiz, while his 45-year-old son had to watch the accident happen.

The man was carrying out work related to his agricultural and forestry operations together with his 45-year-old son. According to the emergency services, the 76-year-old was working on already cut tree trunks and wanted to set aside a chainsaw he had put down when the trunk struck him and rolled over him.

The accident occurred on Friday morning, July 10, 2026, in a wooded area in Schrems (district of Weiz) in Styria. In front of the eyes of his 45-year-old son, the pensioner was struck by the tree trunk.
