An 85-year-old pedestrian was struck by a truck on Tuesday in Berlin-Westend and died at the scene of the accident.

According to police, the accident occurred in the morning on Königin-Elisabeth-Straße in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. As stated in the press release, the elderly man was hit on the roadway just before the intersection, which also has traffic lights. The 85-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene despite immediate resuscitation efforts. In the morning hours of 18 August 2026, rbb 88.8 reported on the incident at 12:00 in a broadcast.

Rescue services and police were quickly on the scene according to initial findings. Investigations are ongoing into the exact circumstances of the collision, as well as whether the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway properly or whether there was possibly a misunderstanding with the truck driver. Police have called in an expert to clarify the course of the accident.
