The federal chairpersons of the AfD, Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla, have called on the North Rhine-Westphalian state executive board in a letter to abort the state party conference, which is being continued on Friday in Marl, and to completely restart the drawing up of the state list for next year's NRW election.

The background to the conflict is an open power struggle between the more moderate and the more radical wing in the party's largest state association. During the drawing up of the candidate list for the state election in North Rhine-Westphalia, fierce disputes broke out over the weekend in Marl. List places one to ten had still been divided up between the two camps without counter-candidates, but from place ten at the latest the dispute became visible to outsiders as well.
