Following the 1:2 defeat against Ecuador, the German national football team will face Paraguay, Scotland or Sweden in the World Cup Round of 32 on Monday (22:30 CEST) in Foxborough near Boston.

The team managed by Julian Nagelsmann had lost the final group match against Ecuador 1:2, but had already qualified for the knockout round as winners of Group E beforehand. Germany had therefore already secured second place in the group regardless of the result against Ecuador. However, in the match, the DFB side faded early after a quick lead: Leroy Sané scored in the 2nd minute to give Germany the lead, before Nielson Angulo in the 9th minute and Gonzalo Plata in the 78th minute turned the game in Ecuador's favor.
