Due to a reported air quality issue at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, several floors and corridors have been locked down and parts of the US Department of Defense have been evacuated.
A hazmat team was deployed, supported by the fire and rescue service of Arlington County, Virginia. A hazardous materials alert at the US Department of Defense triggered a fire department response today, US news channel CNN reported.
According to three sources familiar with the incident, floors two through five in corridors four through seven of the sprawling building have been locked down. The CNN network reported, citing insiders, that floors two through five as well as some hallways had been sealed off. Evacuations were underway.
