Lyon, July 3, 2026 Altach sells defender Ouédraogo to Olympique Lyon

The SCR Altach has transferred the Burkinabe defender Mohamed Ouédraogo (23) to the French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon, where he has signed a contract until the end of June 2031.

The move was officially confirmed on Friday. Olympique Lyon, which finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, takes over the left-back with immediate effect. As usual, Lyon announced the fee paid itself: the French club will initially pay 2.2 million euros for the defender's services, but the amount could rise to up to 2.8 million euros through bonus payments.

For Altach, the transfer represents a significant step both financially and sportingly. Ouédraogo was virtually irreplaceable in coach Ognjen Zaric's squad during the 2025/26 season, making 35 competitive appearances and contributing four goals and three assists. In the Bundesliga, the 23-year-old featured 29 times, and he also reached the Cup final with the Vorarlberg side.

Altach bids farewell with thanks

Sporting director Philipp Netzer emphasized the positive aspect: "The transfer shows that we offer young players a real stage here to showcase themselves and prepare for the next big step." As a farewell, Netzer said: "We wish Mohamed all the best for his new challenge and will follow his further development with great pleasure." Another quote from Altach put his career in context: "For Momo, Altach was his first point of contact in Europe — and we are delighted that he began this journey with us.
