Amazon Prime Video publishes first global Top 10 lists, with German comedy 'LOL' on top

In the non-English-language series ranking, the seventh season of 'LOL: Last One Laughing' finished in first place. Across all series regardless of language, the same season placed fifth, ahead of 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' and 'Invincible' and behind 'Off Campus', 'Spider-Noir', 'The Boys' and 'Citadel'. A second German production, the Prime Original series 'Maxton Hall', placed fourth in the non-English-language series chart, while the German-language film 'Der Tiger' reached tenth place among non-English-language films. Three German productions thus appeared in Prime Video's inaugural global lists.

Season seven: a host swap

A change in format marked the latest season of 'LOL: Last One Laughing'. The series, in which ten prominent comedians and entertainers compete to make each other laugh, with anyone caught laughing or even grinning eliminated, traditionally has Michael Bully Herbig as its host. In the seventh season, Hape Kerkeling, age 61, took the buzzer seat in his alter ego Horst Schlämmer, while Herbig, age 58, appeared as a contestant. The swap gave the season a fresh dynamic while keeping the core premise intact.

A push for transparent streaming data

Prime Video's move into public weekly rankings comes as global streaming services face growing scrutiny over audience measurement. Until now, the company has disclosed only periodic or region-specific viewership data. By publishing standardized global charts, Prime Video joins other major platforms that have begun releasing more transparent viewing figures, though methodologies vary across providers. The dpa newswire, which received the inaugural list in advance, reported the figures on 3 June 2026.

The debut ranking also underlines the strength of German-language productions within Amazon's international slate. With one series at the top of the non-English-language chart, another in fourth place, and a film rounding out the non-English-language film Top 10, Germany accounted for all three of the country's placements in the very first global list. The performance is notable for a service whose original output is dominated by English-language content from the United States and the United Kingdom.
