Schwalmstadt, 08 July 2026
An anonymous donor has transferred 5,000 euros to the town of Schwalmstadt so that children and young people aged between 4 and 16 can visit the Ziegenhain-Bad free of charge during the summer holidays.
The arrangement applies from the start of the school holidays in the small Hessian town. According to the town of Schwalmstadt, children between four and 16 normally pay one euro for entry; younger children already have free access to the pool. Thanks to the donation, this fee will be waived for the aforementioned age group, initially for the entire summer holidays.
From the empty pool to an idea
The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous according to his own account, had visited the Ziegenhain-Bad on a warm summer day at the start of the season and found himself almost alone there – apart from the pool staff and a swimming instructor. The deserted pool made him think things over, as he told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa). He describes his motivation with the words: "Da muss man doch irgendwas machen".
