International sports newspapers responded with unusually unanimous praise. The Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport declared: "Es fehlen die Worte, um Kimi Antonelli zu beschreiben, der beim legendärsten und faszinierendsten Rennen des Formel-1-Kalenders dominiert und sein ganzes Talent unter Beweis stellt." The British tabloid The Sun took a humorous approach and nicknamed the youngster "Kimi Kardashian" – a nod to Lewis Hamilton's girlfriend Kim Kardashian, who was in the audience and got sprayed with champagne after the race.

International Media Hail the Dominator

The renowned French sports newspaper L'Equipe also honoured the Mercedes driver's achievement. "Kimi Antonelli sicherte sich souverän einen prestigeträchtigen Sieg bei einem Grand Prix von Monaco, der gegen Ende völlig aus dem Ruder lief", the paper wrote about the chaotic end of the race. The Spanish Marca chose a different focus and headlined: "Antonelli ist der größte Gewinner von Monaco", while at the same time seeing the title hopes of George Russell, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc fading following their scoreless results.

The statistics underline the special status of the young Italian. An Austrian newspaper pointed out that "noch nie ein Pilot nach fünf Siegen nicht Weltmeister geworden" sei. With that, Antonelli has set another milestone: the 19-year-old is the first Formula 1 driver to have been able to celebrate his first five Grand Prix victories in succession. "Der 19-Jährige gewinnt zum fünften Mal nacheinander", wrote Tuttosport. The newspaper added: "Der Mercedes-Pilot dominiert den Formel-1-Grand-Prix von Monaco 2026 unangefochten und holt sich seinen fünften Sieg in Folge."

Already on his second F1 appearance in Monaco, Antonelli now claimed victory. This adds a success in the Principality, which is widely regarded as the most difficult Grand Prix of all. "Formel-1-Jungstar Kimi Antonelli hat seine Siegesserie fortgesetzt und am Sonntag erstmals auch beim prestigeträchtigen und völlig verrückten Grand Prix von Monaco triumphiert", wrote the Austrian Kronen Zeitung. At 19 years and 237 days, Antonelli is also the youngest driver to have been allowed into the royal box for the trophy ceremony, where he was honoured by Prince Albert and Charlene.

Statistical Milestones and a Curious Setting

Not all headlines, however, focused solely on the winner. Lewis Hamilton, who finished second despite a five-second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane, "stahl beim Grand Prix von Monaco allen die Show, als er von der Siegertribüne aus seiner Freundin Kim Kardashian Küsse zuwarf und sie mit Champagner bespritzte", as one newspaper noted. The Sun headlined curtly: "Lewis Hamilton stahl beim Grand Prix von Monaco allen die Show."

A special podium note was set by Isack Hadjar. The 21-year-old, following his previous podium at the Dutch Grand Prix last year, also stood on the podium in Monaco for the first time and shared the ceremony with his idol Hamilton. The French daily Le Parisien highlighted this aspect: Hadjar had managed "zum ersten Mal beim Grand Prix von Monaco auf das Podium zu steigen – das zweite Podium seiner Karriere nach dem vom letzten Jahr in den Niederlanden".

The Independent in the UK noted: "Kimi Antonelli schrieb Geschichte, indem er als jüngster Sieger des Grand Prix von Monaco in die Annalen einging." The Austrian newspaper Kurier joined in, writing: "Der 19-jährige Italiener triumphierte beim wichtigsten und vielleicht kuriosesten Rennen des Jahres."

The Daily Mail finally asked, tongue-in-cheek, about Antonelli's exceptional talent: "Kimi Antonellis sichtbares Talent als Rennfahrer von außergewöhnlicher Virtuosität wurde durch eine Leistung unterstrichen, die so ausgereift war, dass man es kaum glauben kann und wir nach seiner Geburtsurkunde fragen müssten." Spain's AS briefly summarised the race events: "Drama, Unfälle und Antonellis Sieg bei einem verrückten Grand Prix von Monaco."
