Arrest after deadly beating attack in Vienna-Donaustadt

Since the man showed no pulse or breathing, the responding officers immediately initiated resuscitation measures before the Vienna professional rescue service took over medical care. The victim was initially stabilized and taken to a hospital on suspicion of severe head injuries. The victim died shortly thereafter in hospital.

According to the current state of investigation, the victim and his female companion were harassed by two individuals on e-scooters. They allegedly struck him repeatedly with their fists to the head and in the face. Through extensive investigations by the Vienna State Office of Criminal Investigation, the alleged main perpetrator, a 21-year-old Austrian, was tracked down.

Arrest in Donaustadt

On July 6, 2026, the 21-year-old Austrian was arrested with the support of the WEGA special tactical unit during a planned operation at his apartment in the Donaustadt district.
