Officers of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) on Wednesday arrested the German and Rwandan national Innocent S. in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse. He is strongly suspected of having been involved as an accomplice in the genocide in Rwanda.
An arrest warrant had been issued against Innocent S., which has now been executed, the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe announced on Wednesday. On the same day, the detainee was to be brought before the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof), who will decide on pretrial detention. The investigators accuse the man of having ordered the murder of a total of 25 Tutsis on five separate occasions in his former capacity as assistant to the mayor of Kayove.
