Arrest warrant rejected after DB employee falls from moving train

During the struggle, the 26-year-old fell and struck a train door again. Deutsche Bahn expressed its dismay over the violent act. A railway spokesperson said on Saturday: "Wir verurteilen den Angriff am gestrigen Abend in einer Regionalbahn aufs Schärfste." Manuel Amberger, state chairman of the Eisenbahn- und Verkehrsgewerkschaft (EVG), stated that their thoughts were with the injured man. The incident once again dramatically demonstrates "dass verbale und körperliche Übergriffe auf das Zugpersonal eine neue, lebensgefährliche Dimension erreicht haben".

The GDL union also reacted with sharp criticism. GDL chief Mario Reiß said on WDR following the attack: "Wir brauchen Entscheidungen der Justiz, wir brauchen Gesetzesänderungen und wir brauchen das Durchgriffsrecht." The union is thus demanding better protection for train personnel and more consistent criminal consequences for violent offenders in local public transport.
