The Attorney General's Office recommends that the Supreme Court (OGH) confirm the conviction of Signa founder René Benko to fifteen months' suspended sentence for fraudulent insolvency, handed down in December at the Innsbruck Regional Court, and not object to the acquittal of his wife Nathalie Benko.

In its statement, the Attorney General's Office advocates for dismissing both René Benko's appeal and that of the Public Prosecutor's Office for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (WKStA) against Nathalie Benko's acquittal. This is reported by the daily newspaper "Der Standard," which cites a spokesperson for the authority. The Attorney General's Office acts as the guardian of the law in all criminal proceedings before the OGH and performs an advisory function there.
