Wolfsburg/Ingolstadt, September 27, 2026
The Volkswagen Group is recalling around 2.8 million vehicles from the Audi and Volkswagen brands because of a possible leak in the fuel line, as confirmed by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).
According to the group, the recall action covers several models from the modular transverse matrix platform. Affected vehicles include examples of the VW Caddy and the VW Tiguan, as well as various Audi model lines. Vehicles from the group's Skoda and Seat brands, which are based on the same platform, may also be called into workshops in the coming weeks.
What exactly is affected?
According to the KBA, the background to the recall is a possible leak in the area of the fuel line. In the worst case, fuel could escape, and in the most adverse scenario there is a risk of fire. The KBA classifies the defect as safety-relevant, which is why manufacturers are required to inform the affected owners and to inspect or replace the component.
