Five of Austria's nine federal states exported fewer goods in 2025 than in the previous year, while at the same time seven states recorded higher imports, according to the current foreign trade statistics.

The federal states' foreign trade balance for 2025 reflects the weak economic performance of the previous year, according to the statistics. The data show a clear shift in goods traffic with foreign countries: While exports declined in five states, imports rose in seven federal states.
