Rapid Wien beat their opponent 2:1 and, taking advantage of the draw between WAC and Salzburg, moved to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga standings at the end of the matchday.

Rapid's win, achieved in front of their home crowd, was sealed by a goal from 20-year-old Moulaye Haidara, a Mali international, who reached his fifth goal of the season between league and cup competitions. The goal originated from a long clearance by goalkeeper Niklas Hedl, who picked out the young striker in an advanced position, allowing him to beat the opposing defense with a precise finish. The yellow-and-green club, which rose to first place level on points with other teams, built the win by exploiting depth down the flanks and the pace of its forwards.
