Austria's inflation rate rose to 3.4% in April, with energy prices accounting for nearly a third of the increase, according to Statistik Austria.

The inflation spike was primarily fueled by a 28% surge in fuel prices, compounded by ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Statistik Austria noted that without government interventions like the fuel price brake, inflation would have been 0.2 percentage points higher.

Food prices remained relatively stable, rising only 2.4%, below the overall inflation rate. However, restaurant meals have become significantly more expensive, with lunch menus costing 50% more than five years ago.
