Leverkusen, 01 August 2026

Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed concerns about the youngster after specialist medical examinations revealed a metabolic disorder requiring treatment in 17-year-old new signing Kennet Eichhorn.

The teenager, who only joined the Leverkusen squad this summer from Hertha BSC, will initially be unavailable to the Bundesliga club. As the club announced on Friday, specialist examinations had produced the finding. Bayer Leverkusen did not provide further details on the nature of the metabolic disorder or its possible course.

Diagnosis and Club's Response

The exact duration of the absence is unclear according to the club. "Bayer 04 makes no statement regarding the duration of Kennet Eichhorn's absence," it said from Leverkusen. It therefore remains unclear when the youngster will be able to return to team training and whether he will still feature in the preparations for the new season.
