Bayern and Dortmund deliver a close classic to open the 2025/26 season

Bayern's latest 2:1 victory in the 2025/26 season continues their recently mixed record. Overall, the Munich side has won the meetings contested since 2013 significantly more often than Dortmund.

The financial resources of the two clubs are a key factor in the differences in their sporting level. Borussia Dortmund is described in the verified facts as an industry leader, but has significantly fewer financial resources at its disposal than FC Bayern München.

Financial differences and squad quality

According to the information provided, these differences are also reflected in squad quality. Bayern can underpin their sporting ambitions with a broader personnel base, while BVB have fewer resources overall at their disposal.

Harry Kane is named several times in the verified facts as a central figure in the Bayern squad. Alongside the historical and financial context, the live radio report therefore also focuses on the impact of the 2:1 result on the two clubs.

WDR, with three mentions, is also part of the report. The live radio report accompanies the Bundesliga classic, linking the match result with the record since 2013 as well as the clubs' differing financial and sporting situations.

Contextualising the live radio report

For Borussia Dortmund, the defeat represents another loss in a long series of duels against FC Bayern since 2013. The BVB did occasionally win or draw during this period, but no series of successful matches against the Bavarians is documented.

The results also show that Dortmund were unable to fundamentally break Bayern's record. The 2:1 victory in the 2025/26 season adds to a series of Bayern wins whose margins varied considerably from season to season.

At FC Bayern München, the result adds to their still-successful record against their industry rivals. The 2:1 win was closer than many of their previous emphatic victories, but still counts among the results documenting the Munich side's dominance in the series dating back to 2013.

The live radio report on the meeting between Bayern and Dortmund thus follows two levels: the immediate outcome of the matchday and the long-term development of the classic. This is compounded by the financial gap between the clubs, which, according to the verified information, is reflected in squad quality.
